Between a Pohutakawa tree and the water’s edge.

House at Black Rock

The house is located on the cliff edge between Milford Beach and Takapuna Beach. The house is designed to take in the magnificent sea views to the east towards Rangitoto Island and to the south towards St Heliers as well as providing extensive wall space for the owners changing collection of art.

The living dining and kitchen areas are located on the ground floor with a loggia and outdoor terraces providing a variety of outdoor spaces. Bedrooms and bathrooms are on the upper floors to encompass views to the south and east with clerestory windows for lighting to the north. A large roof terrace opens off the main bedroom.

A self contained guest suite is located at the foot of the cliff close to the water of the Hauraki Gulf. The guest suite comprises of a bedroom, dressing room and bathroom with a self contained living and kitchen area below.

The house is clad in a mixture of Oamaru Stone, Zinc and plastered concrete block with aluminium joinery and timber shutters. The guest suite is clad in stained Lawson Cypress timber battens with a zinc roof.

The grounds have been extensively landscaped by the owners to regenerate the ground cover and enhance the existing Pohutakawa tree and connection between the top of the cliff and the water’s edge.
