More chocolate production
JH Whittaker Stage 8
Stage 8 comprises of a major new factory building to significantly extend the production facilities and incorporate new lines of chocolate making machines together with extensive staff facilities to include additional office space, staff change facilities, staff cafeteria and a new entry incorporating an atrium and stair tower within the space.
The design analysis was complex in that it incorporates development of the existing master planning incorporating inward goods and distribution cocoa roasting zone, manufacturing incorporating six major production lines, package and dispatch, it also includes a hygiene regime which has an impact on plan zoning and walking routes to compliment extensive new facilities for 250 staff. The building is on three levels following the site contours and environment and comprises of 7000sqm of additional space including the factory and staff areas.
Stage 8 extends the architectural language of the existing group of buildings with a palette of materials of steel, concrete, concrete block, aluminium, and timber.
